Peter Pan Place

Introduction

While at a small agency, I had the privilege of contributing to the redesign of Peter Pan Place, a family-owned holiday and business resort in The Wild Coast of South Africa. With its vibrant atmosphere, diverse personalities, breathtaking nature, and splendid weather, Peter Pan Place stands as an ideal holiday retreat for couples and families.

My Role

My role entailed rejuvenating their brand identity and enhancing the website to foster interactivity, mobile-friendliness, and user-centricity.

The Challenge

Our primary focus was on developing a responsive website with an improved booking process for The Peter Pan resort. Utilising captivating imagery, we aimed to spotlight essential content and high-priority information while maintaining alignment with their unique brand voice.

Design Process

Branding

Informed by thorough user research, we proposed a clean and unequivocal style guide, addressing prominent usability issues as we embarked on the website redesign journey.

UI/UX Design

In the redesign of the Peter Pan Place website, I implemented responsive design to ensure seamless navigation and optimal viewing on various mobile devices, enhancing the overall user experience. Through meticulous crafting of low-fidelity wireframes using Sketch, I visualised component placement and screen flow. Loading time optimisation was a priority, where I fine-tuned all elements, including videos and images, for swift loading under 7 seconds. To enhance the user experience, I restructured content for user-friendly organisation and simplified website navigation. The booking engine received special attention, with a focus on prioritising direct bookings by prominently placing it on the home page and other relevant sections for easy access. The introduction of a ‘flexible dates’ option in the smart calendar empowered users to explore the best price dates during their buying cycle. The booking process underwent a redesign for efficiency, collecting only essential information. Additionally, I implemented a room customisation feature, allowing guests to personalise their stay by choosing the number of rooms.

Conclusion

The redesign significantly improved website usability, task completion, and overall functionality. Guests were drawn to the visually appealing aesthetics of the new website, finding them emotionally inviting for exploration.
